New JOSPT case report publication highlights the value of direct access physical therapy in identifying and managing high-risk injuries, such as Zone 3 5th metatarsal fractures that carry a guarded nonoperative prognosis. Patient made a full conservative recovery in 9 weeks 🦾

New case publication A patient with multisite symptoms was referred to PT for several local diagnoses. Exam revealed a unifying diagnosis: cervical myelopathy. This case highlights the importance of assessing for underlying etiologies before performing regional exams. #JOSPT

In the first large-scale analysis of physical therapy following neck surgery (ACDF), we found that 17% of 309,230 patients utilized outpatient PT within 1 year of surgery. Understanding who benefits most may inform optimal postoperative recovery pathways.

Presented a 90-minute education session at the APTA NC Annual Conference on thoracic outlet syndrome. My motivation stems from the fact that many experience delayed diagnosis and currently only 27–39% report a satisfactory outcome with PT alone at 1- to 4-year follow-up.
