more on GFDI there is a chance it gets replaced with FBI (fire behaviuor index, a complex but promising formula) for next harvest in SA, A new number for stop harvest will need to be agreed on. Farmers need to know their actual true GFDI stop point so a case can be put for this”

Neighbours stopped harvesting by “feel” we stopped & measured the gfdi at 32 and rising. Beware if you read wind speed at 2m and don’t multiply it by 1.25 then you’ll get a false low gfdi

Agrotop vs Lechler, cleaning the nozzles. 2 sets, 1 agrotop mirmix the other Lechler. 23 of the Lechlers failed (breaking, falling apart) and in the bin, none of the airmix need replacing. Both sets about the same age

1/2. Alittle confusion out there re the new fire behaviour index and harvest code of practice;
It’s critical you know the wind speed reading height
of the weather station you are reading from, it’s 2 metres or 10 meters.

2/2 (Mesonet’s grain harvest code of practice wind at 2m is not converted to 10m.
A 2m reading must be converted to a 10m equivalent as below
