“Wish it was different, right? If I’ve got my @Pirates hat on, obviously, there’s things that we’d love to see different in the economic model of the game." Pirates general manager Ben Cherington said of the sport’s competitive balance. nytimes.com/athletic/6815792…

My thoughts are with @CoreyOConnorPA and the entire O'Connor family. Judy was such a loving person - loved her family, her community, her City. I was fortunate to be the recipient of her warmth on so many occasions. May her memory forever be a blessing triblive.com/news/obituaries…

May 25, 1935 was going to be a special day at Forbes Field no matter what. Babe Ruth was making a rare visit to #Pittsburgh with the Boston Braves in his final season, giving local baseball fans a precious chance to check out the game’s most famous player in person. Turns out, they got to see a little bit of history, too. Ruth launched what turned out to be the final three homers of his Hall of Fame career in an 11-7 loss to the Pirates. The final one‚ the last of his 714 career HRs‚ is the first to clear the RF grandstand at Forbes Field and was measured at 600 feet.
