I'm excited to share an educational milestone. I am pleased to announce that I will return to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke to pursue a second Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Applied Physics.
Coming from a Humanities and Social Sciences background, the journey ahead will be unfamiliar and, at times, challenging. However, I am genuinely excited to embrace this transition.
My interest in technology began long before I considered pursuing it academically. As a child, I was fascinated by computers. Video games played a role, but I also nearly got in trouble in middle school for spending too much time tinkering with the command line on school computers.
Physics has long been my favorite scientific discipline, despite never taking a dedicated physics course in public school. The desire to understand how the universe works has stayed with me.
I will pursue this degree part-time while continuing my work as a high school educator. Balancing both will be challenging, but it feels like the right path as I invest in lifelong learning and bridge liberal arts and STEM.
I look forward to connecting with the
@uncpembroke community, fellow non-traditional students, alumni, and professionals in computer science, physics, and related fields.
If you have advice on balancing studies with a career, resource or community recommendations, or want to share your own journey into technology or the sciences, I would love to hear from you.
