Fancy wordsman. Blue-tick-haver from the before-times, when it didn’t mean “obvious fraud and/or clown”. Same name at the blue sky.

A quarter of a century ago we lost a giant of Australian politics. And I’d say barely a day has passed when I haven’t been reminded of his legacy. Don Dunstan believed in the possibility and potential of South Australia, and so do I.

This was always going to happen. “Optus” is a contraction of “Octopuses do tech support for us”, which they championed as such a shrewd wages saving until they elected a moray eel as CFO who has now devoured 80% of their on-site team. Just like Twitter.

After hearing the new single I can confirm: I like the early Beatles stuff better.

If they ever name a beer after me, it should be called Andrew P Street The Beer.

We mourn. We seethe. We cry. We rage. We look after each other. We take the time that we need. And then we pick ourselves up, we come back together, and we continue the work. We continue the work.

Occasionally I recall how as a tween I’d cut out reviews of albums (which I largely hadn’t heard) to stick around my bedroom door until there was a weird collage spreading over the wall like a word-cancer. I see how that foreshadowed my career and wonder why no one intervened.

I’ve never agreed with Trump before, but honestly, if he wants to be electrocuted in a sinking boat then who am I to deny him?
Slurring his words, Trump starts riffing about how he would rather be electrocuted to death than be eaten by a shark.

Seven years ago @Jetstar cancelled our flight at the last minute, completely bollocksing a time-dependent holiday. And I never realised how sentimental they were, since they chose to mark the anniversary by doing it again, even as the cab to the airport pulled into our street.

I know I’m being unfair. They and Qantas also cancelled plenty of our flights in between too.

And then they did it again! Oh @JetstarAirways, you adorable scamps, sending a text at 3am that yeah, nah, the replacement flight is also off and there are no direct flights available. Cool times!

Finally, SOMEONE is getting their just desserts for breaching the APS Code of Conduct. Breach it at your peril, citizens, for my standards are high, inflexible, and often arbitrary. Especially about what constitutes a fair price for Sparks LPs. crikey.com.au/2023/09/25/mik…

Look, I appreciate that there are bigger and more urgent things to legislate, but could we please prioritise laws forcing all TV shows to reinstitute 80s-style themes that explain the premise of the show, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-style?
