Lex Marinos was a legend of ‘Kingswood Country’, a culturally significant series that captured Australia’s relationship with immigration in the 80’s perfectly.
Known in the show as a ‘wog’, Lex was also a part of the ‘wogball’ family with legendary Greek-Australian football club, Sydney Olympic.
In football, we’re immensely proud of our contribution to multiculturalism, a vital home for our growing cultural diversity long before it became a loved part of Australian life.
Lex was an important part of that process. He passed away in recent days. Rest well.
(Worryingly, this scene sounds like many politicians today, 40 years later.)
