When my daughter was in junior high, we had a meeting with the school counselor because she was struggling academically.
I’ll never forget what the counselor told me because it hurt my mama’s heart. She told me that college wasn’t in my daughter’s best interest. She wanted us to lower the bar.
But you see, as the expert in this child, I knew she was capable and gifted. I knew she could do anything she set her mind to do.
It may not have happened in the time span typically given but it happened nonetheless. I’m so proud of her determination and perseverance.
Instead of lowering expectations, support children, believe in them, show them that they can do nearly anything they set their minds on doing.
