The situation in Lebanon and across the SWANA region is intensifying, but you can help. Anera's team is on the ground responding right now. Your support makes it possible for us to provide ready-to-eat meals, hygiene kits, water and other essential items that support displaced families. As of today, 17 localities across the Bekaa, South and Nabatieh governorates received displacement orders, which means the need for basic items is only increasing. Help can't wait. Donate today to support families in Lebanon and beyond: give.anera.org/campaign/8030…

On Lebanon’s southern border, the town of Ain Ebel has faced months of conflict, isolation and fuel shortages that threatened access to electricity for its residents. Despite ongoing escalations, Anera successfully installed a solar energy system to support the town’s local electricity network. The result is a more reliable, sustainable and resilient source of power to the community. This project is part of Anera’s solar revolving fund, an innovative model designed to help municipalities invest in renewable energy while creating opportunities for more communities across Lebanon to benefit from similar solutions. Anera recently launched the Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) training program, in the presence of the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nassereddine. Nine doctors from the emergency and intensive care departments at Rafik Hariri University Hospital, Baabda Governmental Hospital, and Sibline Governmental Hospital are undergoing training to introduce POCUS technology to patients. POCUS technology is a qualitative tool that allows for the rapid detection of life-threatening conditions, reducing the time required for medical intervention in emergency and trauma cases, especially during times of sudden influx or high pressure. This initiative is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Public Health (@mophleb), Anera, MedGlobal (@medglobalorg), and Mehad (@mehad_fr), advancing the integration of POCUS within Lebanon’s emergency care system.

Caring for a child recovering from injury or illness is always emotional. In Gaza, many parents face added fear and helplessness as the healthcare system is depleted and aid remains limited. One mother, Islam, shares what it has been like to care for her 14-year-old daughter after an appendix rupture. “I didn’t know how I could take care of her in this tent,” she says. “The sand gets everywhere. I was terrified I would hurt her.” Visit our website to learn how Anera, with support from @Tearfund, helped provide relief for Tala and her family. Read more: anera.org/stories/through-th…

Since 2023, the war and ongoing escalation in Lebanon have displaced communities and directly disrupted the country’s agricultural system. Agriculture, already strained by years of economic crisis, is now facing widespread damage across the South and the Bekaa, with ripple effects reaching farmers nationwide. Imagine for a moment that you get your period in an overcrowded shelter. If you were part of a mass displacement, you may find yourself in a makeshift space, where hundreds of people share a single toilet and privacy is nearly nonexistent. Without access to basic menstrual products, you might be forced to use scraps of fabric or even pieces of tent material as makeshift pads, increasing the risk of infection. Out of sheer stress, you may stop getting your period altogether, which can lead to hormonal imbalances that cause other issues for your body. This is the reality for many women and girls in Gaza and Lebanon. Visit our website to discover how Anera provides relief, including psychosocial support and women’s hygiene products: anera.org/blog/menstrual-hyg…

Gaza’s agriculture sector is under immense strain. Anera's recent assessment highlights where recovery can begin. In accessible areas, some farmers continue to produce, supported by a small number of functioning nurseries supplying seedlings. Local markets retain limited agricultural inputs and small-scale production persists despite the challenges. These pockets of activity point to a critical opportunity: with targeted support, parts of the system can be brought back into operation.
