This weekend my mom said she no longer recognized me as the woman she raised me to be. That’s probably true - I speak in church now and eschew patriarchy. Praying last night & lamenting God told me I’m becoming the daughter He raised me up to be. And that is no small thing.

Brianna’s whatever-he-is mom is less enthusiastic about the relationship. She’s older? She has a tattoo? The mom told him “I can’t control anything you do just don’t have sex in my house” b/c they were holding hands. Momma they aren’t even kissing. Slow your roll.

My 14 yr old and her entire friend group have read Iliad and Odessy and are now working their way through Jane Austin.
Not joking when I say our goal, as writers, parents and educators, must be to produce more kids like this one. The future depends on it.

Micah’s gf’s mom posted a video from a concert their family went to and at one point the kids were dancing. They are both quite good at swing dancing and stuff. I noticed after awhile during one of the dips GF patted his shoulder three times…

Micah stood her back up, grinning spun her towards the chairs, and they went and sat back down. That is the EXACT gesture I use with Sidney to communicate “ok let me up now” or “I love you but I’m stopping this moment and moving on” when cuddling or snuggling or whatever.

I got our first round of strawberries in the canner!! 3 pints of jam total but I did 4 jars as half pints to give as gifts later in the year. I will hopefully end up with enough berries for 3-5 more pints to add to the pantry in the coming week to ten days. Canning season in Michigan is officially here!

In April my SIL asks about Christmas plans because she wants to book base accommodations. Mom says I don’t want to think about Christmas yet and she’s like “too late already booked it” So now there must be a freak out about Christmas because what is we wanted to do something else

I said nothing. I’ve already got a place to stay and zero effort for Christmas except the stocking which I adore doing.
Sis4 goes “Sounds good. What’s the new plan for Christmas?” 😂 Now mom and dad will regroup and pray and will let us know. Because they forgot. 😂

The part I keep coming back to is the part where my husband accurately predicted this back in April. When I called him laughing and told him he goes “Wow. That’s way sooner than I anticipated. I thought they’d spring it on us in October or something”.
