Kaja Kallas on Greenland: β€œChina and Russia are thoroughly enjoying the situation” The EU’s top diplomat noted that it is Moscow and Beijing that are benefiting from disagreements among allies. Higher tariffs risk undermining the shared prosperity of Europe and the United States. In her view, if Greenland’s security is under threat, the issue can be resolved within NATO. β€œWe also cannot allow our dispute to distract us from our main task β€” helping to end Russia’s war against Ukraine,” Kallas said. Today, the EU is convening an emergency meeting following Donald Trump’s threats to impose tariffs over Greenland. A day earlier, protests were held in Copenhagen and on the island itself against selling Greenland to the United States.

❗️Berlingske: Leaked Danish defense documents have revealed that the United States secretly requested confidential information about military facilities, ports, and airfields in Greenland without informing Copenhagen. Danish authorities perceived this as an alarming signal, suspecting that the Americans were preparing plans for pressure or even the forcible seizure of Greenland. The incident was immediately reported to the Danish government and military leadership.

A seat on the "Peace Council" for Gaza for $1 billion: The financial conditions for participating in Trump's initiative are revealed - Bloomberg. According to the agency, states seeking a permanent seat on the "Peace Council" must contribute at least $1 billion in cash. This financial contribution will be the primary condition for joining the body. Dictator Trump plans to personally chair the "Peace Council," which would effectively give him decisive influence over decision-making. It is highly unlikely that many states will pay. For most countries (even wealthy ones), it is bizarre to shell out a billion dollars in cash for a permanent seat on a Trump-dominated body – especially when the US president personally decides almost everything. To many, this smacks of "pay-to-play" diplomacy and an attempt to create a watered-down UN alternative controlled by Trump.

This is the Article 5 crisis everyone hoped would never happen, a U.S. president threatening military action so reckless that our own NATO allies are now preparing to defend against us. Canada saying out loud that it would treat a U.S. invasion of Greenland as an attack on a NATO partner is unprecedented. It’s a flashing-red warning that Trump’s imperial fantasies aren’t just destabilizing Europe, but also unraveling the very alliance that has kept peace for 75 years. When America becomes the aggressor, Article 5 stops being our shield, and starts being the world’s shield against us. And this is unmitigated.
