The tax cuts in the Budget for low-income earners are a great start!
But they're not huge, only around $20 a fortnight more in the pocket.
For almost $3 billion less, we could have increased Jobseeker by $200 a fortnight!
There's still more to be done. 🙌

We are deeply disappointed that, not only did the Budget contain nothing for people on social security, but the Government has cut 600 jobs from Services Australia. We have just started to see improvements to call and processing wait times, and the job is far from done.

People trying to live on these payments have said repeatedly - there is no such thing as a responsible budget that leaves people in poverty.
If we can find billions for tax cuts, we can raise the rate of these payments.

Our Rental Snapshot is out today. Out of 45,000 listings, 3 are affordable for someone on JobSeeker.
0 are affordable for someone on Youth Allowance.

ALT 2024: Rental Affordability Snapshot Australians are facing a rental market that has never been less affordable. The 2024 Rental Affordability Snapshot surveyed rental listings across Australia and found that affordability has crashed to record lows. Out of 45,115 rental listings, we found that: 289 rentals (0.6%) were affordable for a person earning a full-time minimum wage 89 rentals (0.2%) were affordable for a person on the Age Pension 31 rentals (0.1%) were affordable for a person on the Disability Support Pension 3 rentals, (0%) all sharehouses, were affordable for a person on JobSeeker 0 rentals (0%) were affordable for a person on Youth Allowance.
