Since 2024 expectant mothers have been offered a vaccine from 28 weeks to protect newborns and research shows it works - giving ‘excellent protection’ 🥰
The RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) vaccine has reduced hospital admissions of babies by more than 80%. Karen Spillett, deputy head of health advice at Asthma Lung UK said: “Asthma Lung UK campaigned hard for the RSV vaccine to be rolled out to vulnerable groups. We are very glad that these vaccines are making a big difference in protecting young babies from becoming severely unwell." “It is important to stress that RSV is usually harmless. Like most other colds and viruses, it starts with a blocked or runny nose, and in most cases, can be treated at home." Read more from the @BBCNews here: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g8…

Air pollution is a public health emergency that affects us all – it's a relief to see the expansion is having a positive impact on Londoners. However, there are no safe levels of air pollution the government must commit to an ambitious Clean Air Act. tinyurl.com/ycx9uf88
