Meet Julia 👋 She joined Anima International as a Campaigner while still working on her dissertation. Today, she helps animals full-time — and finally feels fulfilled.
Julia always cared about animals. But when it came to choosing a career, she picked Computer Science — it seemed practical. Her plan was to make decent money, maybe open an animal sanctuary one day.
Then she discovered you can actually work for animals full-time. She applied for a job while still at university. Got rejected. It didn’t discourage her. She applied again. This time, she got in. Now she is working for animals every day.

Today, for #WorldCageFreeDay, together with @Act4AnimalsEU, @fourpawsint, @CIWF_Global, and farmers leading the way, we began a 190-day countdown to the EU’s promised modernisation of animal protection laws.
After #EndTheCageAge initiative backed by 1.4 million Europeans, the @EU_commission committed to proposing new legislation, including a ban on cages, by the end of 2026.
The citizens, animal advocates, farmers investing in higher-welfare systems, and millions of caged animals are counting on the EU to deliver. We won’t stop fighting until cages become a thing of the past.

18 member states have already banned fur farming. Griffin Carpenter's analysis shows the industry generates -€9.2 million in gross value added. It doesn't contribute to the EU economy, it drains it. There is no case for protecting it.
