#HPAI A(H5N5) viruses expanded their geographical and host range:
➡️ Recent detections in 17 wild bird species in 5 countries.
➡️ Surge in detection of the virus and mortality events in Gulls and Crows.
In wild birds, there has been a switch from colony-breeding seabirds to waterfowl:
➡️Mute swans 🦢 were particularly affected and found near waterbodies.

#BirdFlu poses a serious threat to poultry and wild birds. To address this, @EFSA_EU is expanding its early warning tool, the #BirdFluRadar, to evaluate the risk of spillover from wild birds to poultry 📡🐔

The development of this expansion is possible thanks to EU Member States providing detailed poultry population data to @EFSA_EU .
The tool was piloted for 🇮🇹 Italy and 🇫🇷 France, with first results now available.
