ALT Press Conference on Thursday: Last ‘No Trust, No Bond’ Event Before Vote
Speakers Include Leaders of Republican and Democratic Party, NAACP, LULAC,
Labor Federation, Sylvester Turner, State Lawmakers
HOUSTON—A bipartisan group of opponents of the $4.4 billion Houston school bond will hold the final “No Trust, No Bond” press event on Thursday before the vote on the largest school bond in Texas history.
“We are a diverse group who may disagree over some issues, but we are united in the certainty that the state-appointed Houston school superintendent and his hand-picked school board cannot be trusted to manage this massive taxpayer-funded bond,” said Jackie Anderson, president of the Houston Federation of Teachers.
The bond proposal comes as Superintendent Mike Miles is moving forward with $500 million in budget cuts for the 2024-25 school year and as he professes that the bond will not raise taxes.

Yesterday my House office was tagged with blood-splattered signs accusing me of supporting terrorism after I questioned the pager operation, which clearly runs counter to US policy.
They must live under a rock to not know I don’t take well to bullies.
Per US Dept of Defense:
ALT Excerpt from US Department of Defense manual:
Booby-Traps and Other Devices in the Form of Apparently Harmless
Portable Objects Specifically Designed to Explode. It is prohibited in all circumstances to use booby-traps or other devices in the form of apparently harmless portable objects that are specifically designed and constructed to contain explosive material. This prohibition relates to booby-traps manufactured to resemble items, such as watches, personal audio players, cameras, toys, and the like. This prohibition is intended to prevent the production of large quantities of dangerous objects that can be scattered around and are likely to be attractive to civilians,
especially children.

I originally learned the rules of dnd to understand the jokes in webcomics like Goblins and Order of the Stick, so writing a story full of new jokes and references felt perfect 💖😊

And the thing is, bobby trap cell phones are a really, existentially awful idea.
But over the last 11 months, we have had more morally depraved ideas stretching the Overton Window ever wider—and each extension has only made the West more coarse, more bellicose, less humane.
