So satisfying to make up batter for Yorkshire puddings judging everything by eye and then filling up the tins right to the brim, each one, with a hiss as it hits the hot fat, no batter left at the end, just 12 perfectly full tins.

How can anyone lose a Le Creuset saucepan? I have looked everywhere it might be. I had 4, the big oval and the milk pan and two 22cm pans with metal handles. One of the 22s is missing. Not the lid. I have 2 lids, only one pan. I am bereft, also considering Alzheimer's. It is not

in the dishwasher, Le Creuset doesn't go there, nor in the oven, its natural habitat. I have had these happy, heavy, orange and red pans for longer than I can remember - is that another sign of old age - I am going to be 74 next week, now starting to worry.

Just watching the vessel tracking in the North Sea after the collision. All the ships in proximity either stop and wait to see if help is needed, or they rush in to assist. It could almost restore your faith in humanity to watch it unfolding. Hope all involved come ashore alive.

Plusnet landline charges are now becoming prohibitive - suddenly we (in the UK) are being charged for calls to the GP clinic, previously free calls are over £10 - can only contact the help team by phone, no email. I can feel a change in how we do things coming on.

Oh I get it now - without letting us know we've been moved onto a different tariff, so only evening and weekend calls are free, the regular payments are less but daytime calls are charged per minute, so its fine as long as we don't call anyone in working hours. Great. Just great.

Medicine bottles with those clicky tops which sometimes don't work - take a pliar type nut cracker, gently compress the sides of the top and it will then grip the inner part and turn it. Pass it on. I have no idea why there are nut crackers in my bathroom. No idea at all. Really.

YouTube is suddenly just multiple adverts - someone should tell them that life is too short to wait for them to get over themselves for the tenth time... even whilst knitting on a dreary Monday afternoon. I'm going to find some 78s - they're called 'Vinyl' now, I believe.

I usually experience tinnitus. Today my ears felt a bit dry and itchy so I rubbed a tiny bit of moisturising cream around the crinkles and the rim of the ear hole, not inside. Tinnitus is gone. Feels really strange.

I wonder if all the pollen around at the moment is to some degree, due to there being no bees to collect and consume it.

There is likely to be a lot of food marked down when the shops reopen as many shelves were overflowing when I went to buy some eggs this afternoon.

One thing which has always puzzled me is that although spices are often measured out in teaspoons or fractions of one, none of my teaspoons fit into the neck of the jars.

At the last service on the car, a few weeks ago they could not get rid of a false low pressure warning on the dash. First long trip - I get a puncture. First one in my life and I am 72 years old. I might have ruined the tire, because I thought it was just the false alert again.

Unexpected fall in the UK economy? What a laugh. Our energy bill was doubled and I was unsure how we'd get through the winter as the heating was off. I did some work, cashed in some savings, but only absolute essentials are being bought, second hand where possible. Surprise?!!

I found a couple of parasitic worms in the Basa fillets I cooked - as a biologist I was interested, but on a general level I was rather horrified - how did that get through quality control? After freezing and cooking probably safe, but not nice at all to find on your diner plate.

#heatwave Here on the South coast of England the cloud cover has now broken and the sun is roasting us.

The weather is 10/10 cloudy today, here on the South coast of England in sight of the sea. My apple trees are looking very sad at the moment. No bumper crop this year for sure. At least it is not going to be blisteringly hot when I go out in a few minutes, but still rather warm.

So the energy companies profits increased 9 fold. They are paying out to shareholders. I switched off heating, economised on food, all to pay them. I feel it is something very wrong to have that situation even possible in this country. Privatisation of utilities was criminal.

Oh no. The early episodes of the Great British Sewing Bee have been removed - I think up to series 8 are gone from iPlayer. Sorrow and woe.

My little granddaughter looks like one of the Simpsons at the moment. She had yellow dye injected for an eye exam and treatment and they got the dose wrong and put in 7ml not 0.7ml . I am not impressed at all. How can something like that happen? Hopefully it will soon subside.
