It was frustrating to see. Mendez would make an overlap and no one would be in the box, Ronaldo and Bruno will make runs and the central midfielders will ignore them and choose a safe pass.
They took zero risk and they didnโt deserve to win the game and it was the Coachโs fault.

Honestly, spot on cause Iโve seen posts from fans calling out individual players alone lol. While that is valid, Iโd say Portugal despite having a strong squad on paper, look very weak as a team. I donโt know what Roberto Martinez is doing but I hope it doesnโt come back to bite hard.
Itโs difficult to break down teams who set up in a mid-low block but the difference in urgency with Congo in attack was crystal clear. Portugal were just overcooking attacks with no urgency. They played as if it was friendly game with nothing to lose. Letโs see how the next two goesโฆ
Roberto Martinez not playing to the strengths of this squad is unforgivable.
You have a team packed with talent, yet you chosen a conservative and risk-averse approach. The football was slow, predictable, and lacked any real urgency, especially in the first half.
The midfield spent most of the game exchanging passes between themselves, dividing the pitch without making decisive forward passes, while repeatedly ignoring the runs of their striker.
A draw isnโt the worst result, but the performance was poor. With the quality available in this squad, much more should be expected.

Ronaldo scoring so many goals in good and bad games really carried this Portuguese side for years especially during his prime. This present team is like oil and water, they donโt mix.
