🚨The Conservative Effect 2010-24: 14 Wasted Years? Is OUT TODAY! 🚨
Thank you to my co-editor @AnthonySeldon and the team at @CambridgeUP for their brilliant work and support over the last of this project.
But...
Fully endorse the Institute for Government’s statement about the need for clarity at the top of the civil service. It needs a strong dynamic leader to take the country forward over the next 10 years. Simon Case has served with huge dedication, energy and sacrifice (1/2)
(2/2) If he sadly is unable to return to work a lasting solution must be found, and agreed with Labour. As the historian of the Cabinet Secretary, I believe government only functions well with a strong & dynamic Cabinet Secretary in post.
The grown-ups/cavalry are returning. Is Rishi Sunak, a PM who knows his history, resorting to the tradition of former PMs Arthur Balfour and Alec Douglas Home by appointing former PM David Cameron For Sec? Peter Carrington was the last For Sec in the Lords, outstanding he was too
Thinking of Douglas Gillespie, and his vision for a path of peace today in particular. Keep watching the @WesternFrontWay website for details of London walks in the next few months. Such a shame today’s walk in Hyde Park had to be cancelled.
We are very sadly having to postpone the one hour silent Western Front Way/Path of Peace walk on Sunday 12 November because of the volatile temperature in London. Please pass this message on to others.
