Apac became a District in 1974 and is located in Northern Uganda, at approximate distance of 250km from Kampala Capital City. Apac is structured with a Municipality, 8 Sub Counties & Town Councils, 54 Parishes, 376 Villages with a population of 221,962 and 52,327 Households.

APAC DISTRICT HOLDS JOINT DISTRICT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND TECHNICAL PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING Apac District, Uganda – June 2026 The Apac District Local Government today held a Joint District Executive Committee (DEC) and Technical Planning Committee (TPC) meeting, chaired by the District Chairperson, Hon. Agec Ambrose, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the political and technical wings of the district for effective service delivery. In his remarks, Hon. Agec Ambrose emphasized the importance of professionalism and teamwork in the implementation of government programs and district development priorities. He called upon all technical staff to observe proper time management and maintain high standards of accountability in the execution of their duties. The District Chairperson further discouraged political harassment and undue interference by politicians in the work of technical officers, noting that mutual respect and adherence to established administrative procedures are essential for efficient service delivery. He encouraged both the political and technical leadership to foster a spirit of cooperation, consultation, and collaboration in addressing the needs of the people of Apac District. "Development can only be achieved when both the political and technical wings work together harmoniously, respecting each other's mandates and responsibilities," Hon. Agec Ambrose said. Speaking during the meeting, the Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Olaboro Emmy Ejuku, pledged total commitment to working closely with the District Executive Committee, Councillors, and all stakeholders in advancing the district's development agenda. Mr. Olaboro urged technical staff to fully support the political leadership in executing their mandates, emphasizing that unity of purpose and teamwork are critical to achieving the district's goals. He reaffirmed the technical team's commitment to providing professional guidance and ensuring the effective implementation of council resolutions, government programs, and development projects across the district. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both the political and technical leadership to strengthen coordination, promote accountability, and work collectively towards improved service delivery and sustainable development for the people of Apac District. Change of Command as NRM’s Agech Ambrose Takes Over Leadership of Apac District Apac District has officially ushered in a new era of leadership following the assumption of office by Agech Ambrose as the District Chairperson for the 2026–2031 term. The new District Chairperson takes over the mantle of leadership with a firm commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, professionalism, unity, the rule of law, and equal opportunity for all people in the Apac District. In his inaugural remarks, Chairperson Agech emphasized the need for inclusive leadership and collective responsibility in driving service delivery and development across the district. He pledged to work closely with both political and technical leaders to ensure effective governance and improved livelihoods for the people of Apac. Demonstrating his commitment to unity and inclusive governance, the Chairperson appointed an executive committee that cuts across different political affiliations.
