Did you hear about the fireball over the Philippines yesterday due to a 1m size asteroid impacting Earth?! The object 2024 RW1 was discovered by @catalina_sky and subsequently imaged by @bryce_bolin and C. Ingebretsen, with help from @ajlemma and V. Sutherland, using APO! ☄️🤩

Aurora spotted at @ApachePointObs last night! The oxygen red aurora is seen across the north and east and the higher altitude nitrogen blue aurora is seen as pillars in the north.

The Solvay Institutes have selected Juna Kollmeier (@thejunaverse) of @CITA_ICAT as its 2022 Jacques Solvay International Chair in Physics. Kollmeier is the first scientist based in Canada to receive this honour.
