Today we're making changes to ApeCoin. Yuga Labs and ApeCo (fka Ape Foundation) coordinate, but operate in parallel. To keep the orgs and leaders in sync, a coordination tax is paid in additional handoffs and added decision-making checkpoints. This made sense when the lack of regulatory clarity forced crypto to contort into strange formations just to ship. That era is over, and we need to reset from first principles. Simpler, with less coordination tax. Cam helped build and lead ApeCo, and he’s fully aligned with me on this reboot. With the reset, the separate ApeCo lead role no longer makes sense in the same way. Cam is stepping down from that role. The core ApeChain tech and BD teams will now work directly with Yuga, so the chain and its partners will be well served. Some other members of ApeCo will be departing - they’re really great people and we’re thankful for their hard work. This transition will be complete by June 5th. ApeCoin should not feel like a separate bet from all the other progress Yuga is making with its brands. Everywhere else we are building holders with real conviction and ApeCoin will be no different. So I’m currently planning a roadshow in June with key and prospective partners, exchanges, investors, institutions and community members in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei and Seoul. We’re going to show up in person and build the relationships that move BAYC, Otherside, and ApeCoin forward together. This is a first step, but not the only step.

Bigger changes sometimes require subtraction, in which we alter the very foundation of the ecosystem. These changes make us stronger in the long run and aim us more towards flexibility for success. Apeco and apechain as a whole have some of the most based and cracked people so losing anyone hurts, even if it’s a painful necessity. Thank you to everyone.

Bittersweet announcement. Bullish on the direction for ApeCo and the club. Logical decision. Sad day however since it mean I was one of the folks let go. Very grateful to have gotten the chance to work with such an incredibly smart and talented team. And while I wish it had lasted longer, I’m extremely proud of everything I shipped into for Apecoin. On the upside, I’m excited to go back to building whatever crazy shit comes into my head without any of the red tape 😂 I may not work for ApeCo anymore, but you can’t stop me from building for the club.

Pulling my comment out here for better visibility 🦍🔊 It has been an unreal opportunity to work together with, and learn from Cam. From dialing in campaigns with some of the biggest/coolest names known to any industry, here on the ground in crypto building cool shit for Apes and on ApeChain, and irl across the world making it happen for the community. Cam came in when this ApeCoin thing and our Ape community really-really needed help and a direction, he accepted the reins and steered us to the right track. Forever grateful for all the time, love, and trust Cam’s given to our community and especially to me 🦍💙 ApeChain on ToppPpPpP.

This is not a breakup tweet. I’m not standing alone in the rain. Figge and I are still grabbing breakfast next Friday in LA. I fully believe in the Club, Otherside, ApeChain, and ApeCoin. I fully believe in Figge. I’m proud of what we built at ApeCo. I’m more proud of the people that made ApeCo hum. They deserve all the flowers. What’s next for me? I’ll still be here and will probably pick up whenever Figge calls. A guy needs to keep his merch hook up ya know.

We were tired of seeing people's wallets get drained through fake meeting links cloning trusted platforms. So we built Meeting Guard: a free tool to check any meeting link, plus a Chrome extension that warns when unknown sites request camera or mic access. Be safe out there 🫡

I appreciate all the effort the ApeCo employees did. I can call most of you friends and after todays reactions I saw that most of you put in a lot of effort and went the extra mile. Apecoin price action was not your friend, but doesn't mean you didn't tried. Sometimes it takes a complete new start to get it (maybe) working again. Thank you for everything you did and I hope you all stay with us (at least as community) and I also hope some get transfered to Yuga. Appreciate you all, @HeadofApe @wonk1m @0xVai @aloksahay @ryancsmith2222 @NGBxShpend @dutchee @nef7773 @HodlrCollective @BrazyNFT @Kingpickle @0xJZhao @blockchainzilla. Sometimes a chapter needs to close, so you can start a new one! Looking forward to see you all at Apefest, next drink is on me!
