1) On 02/21/16, I met my husband, Roy Montero, on a live streaming platform called 𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒃. That platform ceased to exist about 6 months after we met. (This was the year before FB Live came into existence.) I thank God that Blab was around long enough for me to meet my soulmate.

How I'm investing my July 4th weekend ... reading and marking up @PatFlynn's Lean Learning book that arrived this week 🎉
My book will be entirely yellow, underlined, and sticky-noted by the time I'm done because everything in this book is essential to my mission.

I love @RCamposDuffy’s share so much. I believe our special kiddos are highly underestimated on so many levels.
I have a son who just turned 15. He is nonverbal with apraxia and on the autism spectrum. I have found that again and again, his IEP team at school greatly underestimate his abilities.
I have always presumed competence when it comes to my son. Unfortunately, that is not the case for many others in his orbit.
But that’s okay because we are currently on a journey to show the doubters what he’s capable of.
Six weeks ago, we enrolled my son into a communication program called #S2C (Spelling to Communicate) … news story linked below. After just six sessions, my kid is rocking the program. His school IEP team recently declined our request for an S2C evaluation.
Many parents who are learning about this incredible program, and its many success stories, are wanting their children to become a part of this program. However, there is more demand for the program than there are practitioners who can teach it.
I would love if you could spread the word about this program. Our kids with greater communication challenges, deserve a fighting chance to live their best lives.
We just need more people to believe in them and presume competence from day one.

Evita cruising on roller skates 🛼 thru the airport with her little sister! Everyday I am reminded of why God picked our family for Valentina. Not long ago I asked one of Valentina’s Special Needs teachers about her IQ. Is she is average? Below average? Above average?. She told me that for a child w/ Downs,Valentina has average IQ. However….SOCIALLY, she said, Valentina is off the charts! The most socially well-adjusted she’s ever seen! I’m convinced the size of our family & the intergenerational connections she has daily are why she is so well adjusted & beloved by everyone! God doesn’t make mistakes. Valentina was always part of His plan for our family. If you are reading this & have been told your baby might be born with down syndrome, don’t be scared. Embrace it. All of it.

I just listened to this podcast about the benefits of laughter from @JoelOsteen. It's one of THE BEST podcasts I've ever heard.

Dr. Shirley (played by @DollyParton) in the 1992 movie, Straight Talk. If you've never seen it, do yourself a favor and watch it.
The character of Dr. Shirley was an unassuming radio personality. She stayed in the position to serve the people - not herself.
When people judged her based on lack of credentials, she quit as a radio host. I did that too, except she dusted herself off and resumed her role quickly whereas I quit hosting my 3-year live stream show for 3 years.
Dr. Shirley was kind and compassionate (just like me), but she didn't sugarcoat the feedback she gave to her listeners <<< I am still learning that part 😉
