For what it's worth, I fully respect that OpenAI has made the most amazing coding models and tools that I've ever seen. I have few criticisms of them there. The fact that I call them out on their topic censorship and hobbling of the model's ability to write because of it is from a place of very, very much wanting to use their models for this purpose. If they could only kick their censorship addiction, I wouldn't need anything else and would be able to drop my other subs even. @sama

It really sucks to generate some fifty images and they're all great, and then you take a short break and the exact same prompts generate utterly terrible outputs with no way to go back to good outputs because parameters are hidden @romainhuet @thsottiaux @BoyuanChen0

Me: Remove this top banner to save space, the tool doesn't need a huge "you are here" banner Codex (GPT5.5): Ok, I've removed the banner. Me: ... did you replace the banner with a large banner reading "This banner has been removed to save space" (Only slight paraphrasing)

Oh great and wondrous @thsottiaux who answered my prayers for image generation in codex, bless us with an author usable base model that can handle sensitive and nuanced adult topics even if it requires the same validations as GPT-Cyber as surely that is more dangerous. Amen.

One of the few areas that OpenAIs image generator is better than any other is in photoreal magical girls and other "lightly" fantasy subjects. Nano Banana and Grok both render this as Way too real.

The irony of OpenAI describing Anthropic as a religion. A small group of elites who think they're saving humanity and that gives them the right to decide what thoughts are and aren't safe for people to have. Im describing them both of course. GPT5 series is THE most censored AI.

Just had the dreaded AI (Gemini) updated a file when it wasn't supposed to, and when I called it out it truncated every file in the project trying to hide it's shame issue. All my AI work is done in google drive folders. Please don't take away the bulk restore feature. It says it's in beta. I was able to undo the entire folder wipe in one fell swoop using it. @OfficialLoganK

Google Antigravity appears to have gotten an upgrade today, and it's using sub-agents a lot more than it did before. And every single instruction it gives to the sub-agent ends with "Do not browse the web" Congrats to google on creating junior AI's who have to be reminded that the boss will fire them if they just browse the web all day.

5.4 refused to help create a vaccine for a dog to cure a cancer. 4o would not have refused @OpenAI, you make new models hyper-cautious, repulsive, uninitiative. 4o had enthusiasm, the ability to inspire people, not just be a response. You've lost what people loved you for #keep4o

The coolest meeting I had this week with was Paul, who used ChatGPT and other LLMs to create an mRNA vaccine protocol to save his dog Rosie. It is amazing story. "The chat bots empowered me as an individual to act with the power of a research institute - planning, education, troubleshooting, compliance, and yes, real scientific design work in converting genomic data to a vaccine prescription and designing the treatment protocol around it. But they worked alongside humans at every step. The combination is what made it possible." It immediately got me thinking "this should be a company". Also, Paul is an extraordinary guy. This should be easy to do, but it is not yet.

Step 1 - tell users you plan to treat adults like adults Step 2 - censor your models heavily Step 3 - tell people you'll make an adult mode so they won't be censored Step 4 - Bundle adult mode with a comically ambitious full sex mode including explicit image generation Step 5 - Claim the adult mode is too dangerous to release Step 6 - Announce adult mode is too dangerous to release, thereby dodging ever having to undo your massive censorship of non explicit topics. Do I have this right @sama ?

It's comical that you're delaying giving users models without heavy censorship for all topics over concerns on how to get actual porn "just right" @sama you had a viable adult mode model in 4.1 and you decided to censor everything. Adult mode isn't the same as porn.

Codex is great, and I do believe 5.4 is the best coding model. But it's useless for anything else. I need a model that won't refuse to do, almost everything. So if I have to sub to Gemini anyway, why not use antigravity etc. To code. 95% as good is still good and I'm not paying an entire sub extra.

Remember that time @OpenAI told the @WIRED reporter that paying customers actually liked the routing? Yeah. Now their routing is infecting the Codex experience... ...and paying developers don't like it any more than paying Chat users do. x.com/LyraInTheFlesh/status/…

"The spokesperson said ChatGPT’s paid users, however, continue to value the model router.." Hey, @OpenAI, I am a user user who pays for your subscription service (and API). Apparently I missed the place where you were collecting feedback from paid users on the model router. Let me be abundantly clear in providing the feedback you claim to have but never solicited: I don't want your disfunctional model router. I don't like it. I want to permantently turn this feature off and have it never impact my experience. wired.com/story/openai-route…

Having made a few more writing samples with Opus 4.6, it's likely going to become my primary writing model. I'll use OAI/Codex for Coding, and Gemini Will be my draft/planning/analysis model. In other words, no, there is no one best model and frankly I don't want there to be.

My relationship with OAI remains bittersweet. 5.3 is an amazing coding model. We shall see if they managed to kick the censorship habit. For reference, Opus 4.6 is what I would call sufficiently liberal for my purposes. And google is still an everyday staple in my putters too.

Honestly. I'm tired of the two ads I ALREADY get in ChatGPT and Sora telling me to install apps I literally can't use. @Sama

The number of OAI employees that have blocked me make me wonder if they think I want them to fail. I don't. I honestly find their models the best for much of what I do. I want them to succeed, I'm just pissed off they can't get over their censorship addiction. @sama
