"already crowded neighborhood" is such a galling NIMBY way of saying "I got mine & I'm slamming the door closed behind me" There are multiple 5 story buildings already on this block. This low of a parking ratio is not out of keeping w/ many nearby buildings that have no parking.

Mindblowing that builders have profitably built into falling rents in Minneapolis *starting from such low rents* Median studios are $1,100. In older filtered buildings, $750 studios abound Developers survive by begging top quintile renters to upgrade to $2k/mo "ultraluxury" 😂

A few months ago, @alexschief pointed out that Minneapolis (population 425,336) was building more housing this year than San Jose, San Francisco, and Oakland combined (population 2.2 million). That's still true, and it's not the only one

You were promised econ studies on the effects of immigration on house prices. So let's deliver: An important new study finds that more robust enforcement of immigration laws reduces the construction workforce, which has led to higher house prices. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.…

In 2017, I paid Cards Against Humanity to protect a pristine plot of border land from Trump’s racist wall. But then an even richer, more racist billionaire—Elon Musk—stole my land and dumped his shit all over it. @ElonMusk owes me $100. #ElonOwesMe100Bucks ElonOwesYou100Dollars.com

To be clear, the new standard is a little less awesome than the rules in Europe, where carmakers must pass crash tests relating to leg injuries for pedestrians. And that has not been proposed in the U.S. But this is still something to be excited about. usa.streetsblog.org/2024/09/…

For different reasons, Xherdan Shaqiri and Gastón Gimenez were not good uses of a designated player spot. The next Fire brass can learn from those mistakes. #cf97 chicago.suntimes.com/fire/20…

I cannot wait for the 5/3 drive thru to eventually be redeveloped in the next decade when that too becomes more valuable as a location for housing than simply a drive thru ATM. When that time comes I hope it will be more than just a 4 story building.
I am pleased to announce my support for 194 new homes to the heart of North Center, including a new restaurant-ready space, a green roof, and a public plaza. This proposal also includes the first Permanent Supportive Housing for survivors of gender-based violence in Chicago.

Which is why everyone tut tutting the couch fucker jokes as "misinformation" was a disingenuous dweeb. They didn't hurt anyone, no one seriously claimed they were fact, & the people hearing the jokes didn't go out & start sending in bomb threats to Bob's Furniture.
