Well done to the four groups of Year 11 pupils who have successfully completed the qualifying expedition for their Silver Award with @DofE Northern Ireland.🥾
Over the last three days they have battled rain, been eaten by midges and even met a donkey or two along the way!
@DerryNow@NWSharingZone Today's recoloured photo is one I restored and coloured for @ArchiveFoyle. The photo shows the students from the Northland's School of Housewifery in Crawford Sq. It was founded in 1913 by Margaret Mackillop was located beside the Victoria High School.
Excellent navigation. Excellent campcraft. Excellent weather. ☀️🥾
It was an absolute pleasure supervising these young people on their DofE Silver Practice expedition. Well done Year 11!💙

“You can go and collect fir-cones for me,” said Kanga, giving them a basket.
So Tigger and Roo went to the Six Pine Trees and threw fir-cones at each other until they had forgotten what they came for, and they left the basket under the trees and went back to dinner. ~A.A.Milne
Wow!
We are truly blown away by the generosity of our #FoyleFamily. Thank you to everyone who donated food items to the Foyle Foodbank as part of our Christmas Jumper Day celebrations. We hope these contributions will make a difference to those who need it most this Christmas💙
Well done to our current and former pupils who, as members of the Sollus Highland Dancers, performed at the New Gate Arts and Culture Centre over the past two evenings as part of the “Awakening the Walled City” programme. 👏🏻
Congratulations to our amazing Year 11 and Year 12 pupils on the excellent GCSE results they achieved this morning!
Today was a celebration of our pupils’ determination and perseverance over the last academic year, and their fantastic results are truly well-deserved. 👏🏻
Where should they dig the Very Deep Pit?
Piglet said that the best place would be somewhere where a Heffalump was, just before he fell into it, only about a foot further on.
“But then he would see us digging it,” said Pooh.
“Not if he was looking at the sky.”

Congratulations to Alex McNeill, Class of 2021, who has graduated with a First Class Masters in Earth and Planetary Science from University of Manchester. Remarkably, Alex’s brother Jack, also a former pupil, graduated from the same university with the same degree six years ago.
Just a wee reminder, if you are out and about this weekend and see our flag please let us know. The flag has little monitory value but it’s an important part of our City’s history.
