Since this one is getting a lot of traction, here is another one looking at the same data with different lens. This one is Home vs away in non-draw.
This is an visual representation of my point. Pant is an elite batter, has played in an really difficult era for batting, has some great knocks on very difficult pitches and situations. But he is far from India's true elites on tough pitches.

This tied SL A vs Ind A game made me go down a bit of a rabbit hole of tie breakers and their history in cricket but wanted to share a cute little thing that I discovered at the very start, we currently have the same number of tied ODIs and T20Is: 47.

#OnThisDay in 1955, Australia recovered from 7/2 to post a then-record 758/8 against West Indies in Kingston, powered by Test cricket’s first-ever five individual centuries - from Colin McDonald, Neil Harvey, Keith Miller, Ron Archer, and Richie Benaud. Australia won by an innings and 82 runs.

Better in my opinion
Hate this metrics. That 80 inns stretch was 9 year for sobers 7 for sachin, and same for many of the old batters. But modern players can do it in max 4-5 years. And since its much harder to maintain excellence for longer, this list gets over represented by modern batters.

Him being so much ahead of his peers was the reason. He scored 566 runs more than 2nd highest scorer that yr , averaged 65 & striked at 102 over a sample of 30 games. Won MOTM in 6/7 games vs Aus that yr. And the most astonishing part , he also picked 24 wkts @ 26 avg !
SRT had the better year but I am yet to see one good reason from SRT fans on why it is better. There are enough reasons. Unlike a few of them masquerading as SRT fans just to hate on Kohli, I have seen both the years live. Kohli playing on easy pitches is a nonsensical argument

The natural progression of Impact scores is win probability added. Winprob is related to the predicted score and thus the impact. Here: top 40 batting seasons by WPA 2016 AB VK won RCB 3 extra games Pic2: 2026 VK won 1 extra game (highest). 2026 RCB had multiple ve WAA batters

I had the same problem watching the Ashes - both teams wearing white. It was only the fact that one team was good that enabled me to tell them apart.
