I waited 33 years for this. Not just for a championship. Not just for a parade. Not just for a trophy. I waited for healing. I became a Knicks fan in 1993. Back then I didn’t know I was signing up for a lifetime of heartbreak. I only knew that I loved this team this city and the feeling they gave me every time they stepped onto the court. Then came the pain. The battles with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls standing in the way of our dreams year after year. The heartbreak of 1994. The missed opportunities. The near-misses. The cruel reality that being good wasn’t enough when greatness stood on the other side. Then came Indiana. The battles. The heartbreak. The moments that still sting decades later. I watched Patrick Ewing leave without a ring. I watched heroes come and go. I endured seasons where hope felt impossible. I sat through rebuilding years … lottery years empty promises bad trades and countless reminders that the last banner was raised in 1973. And still I stayed. Because that’s what Knicks fans do. We believe when there’s no reason to believe. We hope when hope feels foolish. We pass our loyalty down through generations carrying memories of what was and dreams of what could be. For 33 years of being a fan every season ended with disappointment. Until now. Now … when I walk into Madison Square Garden and look up at the rafters there will be a banner that wasn’t there before. A banner that says every heartbreak was worth it. Every tear. Every loss. Every joke. Every year of waiting. For the first time in my life when I look up at the banners in MSG I won’t be looking at history. I’ll be looking at a memory I lived. Time heals all wounds. Sometimes … time doesn’t heal those wounds it turns them into a beautiful scar. After 53 years of waiting the pain became pride. The heartbreak became history and faith made us champions! Thursday can’t come soon enough. #alwaysknicks
