Today would’ve been Terry Higgins’ 81st birthday. But, instead, he’ll always be 37.
Terry was the first named person in the UK to die of an AIDS-related illness in July 1982.
Say Happy Birthday Terry and, if you can, donate today tht.org.uk/terry
🏳️🌈 June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate LGBTQ communities, recognise their contributions, and reflect on the challenges many have faced.
As the Army's national charity, we continue to support veterans who were impacted by the ban on LGBTQ personnel serving in the Armed Forces, and who may still need help today.
Our recent grant of £40,000 to @fightingwpride has enabled the recruitment of a new Veteran Community Team manager, Marti, who also serves as Community Worker for the North East and North West.
In just a few months, Marti has had a transformative impact, strengthening policies, enhancing team training, and focusing efforts on direct support for veterans.
As part of this work, new LGBTQ veteran drop-in groups are being established, starting at the OUT Community Centre in Gateshead. These spaces will help veterans connect, access support, and feel part of a community.

People are the heart of defence. We thank our Armed Forces for their sacrifices. This Government has awarded a 3.6% pay rise, bringing total pay increases to 14.1% since July 2024 - recognising their dedication as defence demands grow.

An insightful visit to Faslane, spending time with service personnel, touring a Vanguard-class submarine and meeting with their LGBTQ Network.
Thank you to everyone who serves in the Submarine Service - and to their families for their unwavering support 🫡

We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and equality. We are committed to supporting an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued, individuality is celebrated, and all officers can be themselves without fear of discrimination. #pridemonth
Last Sunday, Pride in Service Day brought together veterans, serving personnel, artists, performers, community organisations and visitors for a powerful and inspiring celebration of LGBTQ service and heritage.
Through art, performance and personal testimony, we reflected on the experiences of LGBTQ personnel in the Armed Forces and marked 25 years since the lifting of the ban on serving openly.
We'd like to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day so meaningful. The conversations, connections and stories shared will continue to shape our work as we strive to present a more inclusive and representative history of the Royal Air Force.

Для нас це про видимість людей, які є частиною цієї країни. ЛГБТК люди служать у війську, волонтерять, донатять, працюють у тилу, лікують, евакуюють, втрачають своїх і чекають своїх з фронту
🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈
