Our mission is twofold: to publish out-of-print Catholic books that reinvigorate the contemplative life and to release original titles that provoke discussion.

If you don’t know John Wu, you really should learn more about him. His translation of the Tao Te Ching is still in print. He translated the New Testament and Psalms into Classical Chinese. His encounter with the thought of Therese of Lisieux helped convert him to Catholicism.
This 1947 photo depicts Dr. John C. H. Wu and his family meeting with Pope Pius XII. Dr. Wu was the Republic of China's ambassador to the Holy See and a convert to Catholicism.

"He was one of the most important Czech Catholic poets of the 20th century. Because of his faith and his anti-totalitarian work, he was imprisoned as an enemy of the Communist Party after the Communist coup of 1948."

"But what happens to us who have intellects that are frustrated by being stopped at the media as a barrier to thought? Well, we either become activists and engage in a frenzy of projectsβ€” the whole of our intellectual energy compressed into making and doingβ€” or else we become violent in our frustration. After all, we are rational creatures, and our reason is being suppressed. We let off steam in irrational, convulsive ways. This is what the Protestants did, especially the sects, in various forms of β€œenthusiasm”. This is, perhaps, what our charismatics are doing. This is the root cause of the violence of our present society, more an inchoate intellectual protest, I think, than rebellion against simple social injustice." β€”Carol Jackson Robinson

"A creeping atheism now burgeoning into its full somber flower has been characteristic of human thought since the inception of modern philosophy. Atheism as such did not, of course, begin with Descartes; but a new, radical and volatile form of atheism did." β€”Translator's Introduction, "Modern Atheism from Its Roots in the Cartesian Cogito to the Present Day," by Cornelio Fabro

JUST IN: Vatican releases Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, on safeguarding the human person in the time of AI. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e… On Transhumanism and Posthumanism, Pope Leo XIV writes: β€œIf the human being is treated as something to be perfected or surpassed, it becomes easier to accept that some lives are less useful, less desirable or less worthy. In the name of progress, β€˜necessary sacrifices’ may begin to be justified, placing the burden on the most vulnerable in pursuit of a supposed optimization of the species. … For this reason, a clear distinction must be made. It is one thing to integrate technology within a human-centered, relational vision; it is quite another to be guided by an outlook that devalues human limits and promises a purely technical form of β€˜salvation.’” Read the encyclical here: vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…
