Carousel artists met at the fabulous Morley College, in London. Several of us like to maintain that connection by taking short courses to expand and hone our skills. This spectacular manipulated fabric collar was made by Julieta Gimpel on one such course recently.

These three women are clearly associates in an early 20th century lady’s detective agency, on their way to carry out some stylish sleuthing. What would the name of the agency be I wonder? I am certain they are not to be messed with and will not stand for any nonsense @metmuseum

A glimpse into the working practice of Carousel artist Brenda Parsons. Using reference photos, in this case of the Dartmoor landscape and geology, she builds up a collage and translates this into a sketch before moving into fabric and stitch or stitching directly into the paper.
