I'm not sure if #Houdini was developed to be used as a modular synth and audiovisual realtime tool, but it can definitely do so. Here are some examples of a project currently developing.

Using @sidefx Houdini as a drum synthesizer. No samples used, all you hear is the Houdini synthesis engine ;)
All is done using CHOPs and no external processing. Houdini Sequences, Houdini synthesise it... Looking forward to keeping developing this concept further. Keep posted!

Never thought about @sidefx Houdini being a digital modular synth that also allows realtime graphics, but apparently it can be used as such :)
Still loooooong way to go but the research is going pretty well, isn't it?
