π―π΅ If Japanese people do vote, they do it quietly. There are some political rally confrontations, but not as bad as the West.
Maria from Germany: "In Germany, from a very young age, whether at school or at home, people have a strong interest in politics and discuss it. However, what surprised me when I came to Japan was that young people don't seem very interested in politics or voting.
Only less than 40% of young people actually go out to vote, which is something unthinkable in Germany. Another thing that shocked me was when I went out drinking with Japanese friends, they told me, 'In Japan, it's best to avoid talking about politics, religion, and baseball."
