More than 200 U.S. CDC-trained Ugandan experts are supporting the Ministry of Health’s Ebola response, among them Joseph Ojwang, who trained healthcare workers at Entebbe International Airport. For decades, America has worked with Uganda and the world to stop the spread of infectious diseases at the source, highlighting American leadership in action. #FightEbolaUG26 #Freedom250

The United States condemns the reported SAF drone attack on June 9th on the key Ardamata bridge. Our humanitarian partners like the #SudanHumanitarianFund depend on this bridge to bring emergency food and medical supplies to Zalingei and points further into West and Central Darfur, with 31.3 million tons of humanitarian aid having already transited Adre in 2026. There is no military solution to this conflict; humanitarian and civilian infrastructure must not be targeted. The warring parties must accept a humanitarian truce to enable needed aid to reach the millions of Sudanese in need.

On June 4, 2026, New York-headquartered Convalt Energy and the Government of Lesotho signed an agreement to build a 1,200-megawatt electricity and AI data center valued at $6.2 billion. The project will utilize U.S.-manufactured materials generating $2 billion for U.S. exporters and add to U.S. and global computing capability to fuel the AI revolution. It will also allow Lesotho to become a regional power exporter. Congratulations on this cutting-edge partnership!

Good discussion with State Secretary of Norway Andreas Kravik (@akravik79) and Horn of Africa Envoy Endre Stiansen (@Endre_Stiansen). The United States and Norway continue to collaborate on efforts towards a humanitarian truce as outlined in our joint statement below, a necessary first step towards a lasting peace in a unified, civilian-led Sudan. Our two countries are also making significant humanitarian contributions to save lives in Sudan. The United States has provided $220 million in 2026 for people in need in Sudan, on top of $550 million in 2025. Norway has doubled both its humanitarian and long-term support since 2023. On the DRC we discussed progress on the Washington Accords and Doha Framework, as well as efforts to combat the Ebola outbreak, where the U.S. has already contributed more than $200 million, and Norway is actively engaged in support efforts. We also raised South Sudan and the urgent need for direct dialogue to return to peace and for South Sudan's leaders to start using public revenue appropriately to support their people.

The @StateDept is providing $200M directly to the #Ebola response. U.S.-funded partners are delivering results: 400K individuals reached through community outreach, 1,500 healthcare workers trained, 100 disease surveillance workers deployed at points-of-entry, and more. We're stopping Ebola from reaching our shores.
