Don’t worry though, Carnival will return soon. Stay tuned ⌛
Astar governance moved on two fronts this week: a runtime upgrade advancing block production and freezing new WASM deployments, and a referendum on collator set membership.
Here's what changed 🧵
🔵 Runtime 2207: Block Production Upgrade and WASM Deployment Freeze
Runtime 2207 is now in referendum, completing Astar's block production upgrade and freezing new WASM smart contract deployments. Existing contracts remain unaffected.
🔵 RadiumBlock Removal
A referendum is live to remove RadiumBlock from Astar's invulnerable collator set.
Financial firms like Visa, Mastercard, and Revolut are moving into stablecoins. Stablecoins are becoming the infrastructure for settlement, remittance, payments, and banking.
That is the space Astar is building for.
For money to move onchain at that scale, the conditions need to be visible, the risks need to be checkable, and there needs to be a path you can trust.
That is the infrastructure Astar is building.
Astar is building DeFi infrastructure where protocol usage routes value back to ASTR.
@Comet_Swap is the native CLMM DEX on Astar built on this logic, listed on Astar dApp Staking.
The Giveback Loop is the mechanism at the core. Protocol fees are designed to flow into ASTR buybacks, with the bought-back ASTR distributed to stakers as Boost.
ASTR staking and activation are both upcoming.
Astar's DeFi buildout has a consistent direction: protocol usage generates real economic activity, and that activity translates into value for ASTR.
What's coming through 2026 is being built on that logic.
This week, community members covered the close of Yoki Arcade's first campaign and the new utility that comes with holding a Yoki Core.
Here's what stood out 🧵
Yoki Arcade Beyond the Campaign 🧩
@aafusumi77 writes about Yoki Arcade's utility continuing beyond the initial campaign, with Yoki Cores now part of @soneium Score Season 11.
One thing I appreciate about Yoki Arcade is that the story does not end when a campaign ends.
The first run introduced thousands of users to the experience generated thousands of onchain matches and showed how gameplay can create real activity onchain.
Now with Yoki Cores becoming part of Soneium Score Season 11 the utility continues beyond the initial campaign.
From my perspective that is what makes projects more interesting.
Instead of being a one time event assets can continue to have relevance within the broader ecosystem.
For anyone exploring the Astar Startale and Soneium ecosystem Yoki Arcade feels like a good entry point to understand how gaming NFTs and onchain participation can work together in a practical way.
The first campaign may be over but it feels like the foundation for something bigger rather than the end of the journey.
Looking forward to seeing what comes next for Yoki Arcade and the wider ecosystem.

Projects elevating ASTR in the Soneium ecosystem 💿
@soneium's mainnet launch has unlocked a plethora of opportunities for ASTR holders. Let's explore how these projects are integrating ASTR to drive innovation. 🧵👇
ASTR was upgraded to a native cross-chain token via @chainlink CCIP and ERC-7802.
It moves between Astar Network and Soneium through a burn/mint model. One ASTR, natively portable.
ASTR has active utility across Soneium: staking, DeFi, onchain games, and cross-chain movement.
Astar's 2026 value capture model routes onchain activity across the ecosystem back to ASTR. Tokenomics 3.0 is live: emission decay running, 80% of gas fees permanently burned, supply converging toward ~10 billion ASTR.
