Centaurus A - I had hoped to capture more than 100 hours of data on this fascinating galaxy this, but have called it quits (at least for now) with 30 hours in the bag. Captured with the RASA 8 & ASI 533MM and TS 94EDPH $ ASI2600MM. See instagram.com/p/CtObzxSMdai/β¦#astophotography
My Southern Pinwheel Galaxy image has won first prize in the Astronomical Society of Southern Africa Astrophotography competition of 2025! Really happy that the 70 hours of integration time paid off π #Astrophotography#space#astronomy
I started this project 4 months ago and itβs finally done. Here is my final image of the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy (M83) in HaLRGB. Telescope - TS Photoline 140, camera - ASI2600MM, integration time - 60 hours. Captured from Newlands, Cape Town (Bortle 7/8) #astrophotography#m83
This image of M 104 was captured in one night from the Cederberg Observatory using a SW Esprit 100 & @zwoastro ASI2600MC Pro. This is a stack of 60 300 sec subs, so an effective 5 hours of exposure time. #astrophotography#space#sombrerogalaxy#M104
What do you do when you get out to dark skies? Well, itβs obvious, right? You capture one of the most iconic objects in the skyβ¦.The Horse Head Nebula. This is a little under three hours using the SW Esprit 100 and the ASI2600MC Pro, captured from beautiful Gecko Rock reserve.
The Cobra and Mouse (NGC 2442 and NGC 2443) are two parts of a single intermediate spiral galaxy. It is about 50 million light-years away in the constellation Volans. This is the first part of this project consisting of luminance data. Colour to follow. #astrophotography#galaxy
Thorβs Helmet (NGC 2359), is an emission nebula located about 12,000 light-years away in the constellation Canis Major. Its distinctive shape is created by intense stellar winds from a Wolf-Rayet star.
Captured with the RASA 8 & @zwoastro ASI533MM #astrophotography#NGC2359
Itβs almost the end of 2024. Here are some of my best images this year. In 2025 there are plans to build a remote Observatory at a Bortle 1 site near Ceres. There will be up to 6 piers for rental, so watch this space next month for more details. Happy New Year #astrophotography
Another successful transit. This time it was WASP 19 b, a crazy βHot Jupiterβ with an orbital period of 19 hours!!!! Captured from Cape Town with a standard astrophotography rig. #exoplanets#astrophotography#astronomy#space
The Cederberg Observatory shorturl.at/yQADX is running several public open nights over the New Year, with shows between the 28th and 31st December 2024, starting at 8pm. Book on Quicket at qkt.io/kM9JD2#astronomy#CapeTown
