"Academia appeals to a significant proportion of neurodivergent people, yet it is notoriously neurodivergent-unfriendly"✍️ @DrHelenKara
Can higher education be a neurodivergent-affirming space without #funding? ow.ly/acJA50WvX0B
I've finished the DFZ trilogy by the wonderful @Rachel_Aaron yesterday, pacing was absolutely solid first thing I’ve managed to read for pleasure since starting the PhD well worth a read if anyone is after a new book.
I am surprised to be told that the previous government’s ‘behaviour tsar’ is tweeting that children with SEN do not have higher exclusion rates, when the government’s own statistics show this? Have I misunderstood, @pauldixtweets@SwailesRuth?
The satellite-strewn sky, in a stack of cumulative exposures taken over just 30 minutes on June 4/5, 2024 from latitude 51° N, looking south. The field is 100° by 75°. There's one natural streak, from a meteor, at center. The others are from what humans put there. @twanight
ALT This is a stack of 560 two-second exposures, taken from 1:40 am to 2:10 am MDT on the night of June 4/5, about the time the sky was at its darkest. Even so, despite being near New Moon, the sky is blue from the perpetual twilight of a June night at my latitude.
The lens was the Laowa 15mm wide open at f/2 on the Canon R6 at ISO 16,000, very high in order to record as much as possible in two seconds, to keep the satellites' trails on each frame as short as possible, and for the purpose of creating a time-lapse movie. The camera was on a tracker following the sky and stars, so they remain points, and the Milky Way shows up at center. The ground is blurred, though it comes from a blend of just 50 frames from the end of the sequence.
I am begging neurotypical to understand.
Appropriate: “hey could you help me move this weekend?”
Not appropriate: “gosh.. all these heavy boxes and furniture… all by myself in just a few hours… sure wish I had someone to help me… but no one cares..”
STOP IT
We're on a mission to gift 100 telescopes to Black families, bringing the cosmos right to their backyards. Over at The Science Haven, we're turning up the heat on this stellar initiative, but we need YOUR help reaching our goal!! 1/ thesciencehaven.org/stellard…
ADHD is like 50% not working, 50% working frantically to make up for the not working part, 50% thinking about the work I should be doing (but not actually working), and 50% not sleeping (but trying to).
