It’s very clear that this platform doesn’t align with our values. We know many people are leaving, for good reasons - but for now, we've decided to keep fighting for asylum rights here. Here’s why we’re NOT leaving, and what we’ll be doing differently from now on. A thread 🧵👇

Every refugee has gone through an arduous process to prove they're in danger in their country. So it's obvious their children trapped abroad are too. Our Government cannot claim to care about children while abandoning children it knows are unsafe. theguardian.com/politics/202…

Our hope comes from the kindness of our community. We see hope in volunteers, partnerships, families rebuilding their lives,& people coming together to support one another. Every act of compassion reminds us that brighter futures are possible when communities stand united.
Here's what we know: in every single community in the UK, there are people who are kind, hopeful and welcoming. This week they'll be making that hope and welcome extra visible - but it's there every day. What give you hope in your community?

It's chilling to watch people trying to rip up the laws that protect all of us from torture. Human rights law protects every single one of us. Efforts to undo it in order to create Rwanda-plan-style attacks on the most vulnerable risk harming us all. theguardian.com/law/2026/may…

Yesterday's King's Speech continued the Government's failing approach of attacking people trying to put down roots in the UK. Denying people settlement and making refugee status uncertain, won't improve life for anyone - and it's pretty clear voters can see that.

Every death by suicide is an avoidable tragedy. By failing to even record the number of deaths in our asylum system, the Government is failing in its duty to do all it can to prevent more tragedies like this. This young woman deserved better. buff.ly/68ZfX5R

Safety isn't safety if it's temporary. Making refugees reapply for protection every 30 months completely undermines the system of refugee protection created after the Second World War. We hope these challenges can stop this unworkable proposal. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

⚠️⚠️150 childrens' charities write to Starmer in alarm over immigration reforms! Changes to ILR, use of force, & care leavers' rights amount to a "sustained attack on children's rights" & trap 10s of thousands in poverty They must rethink Reform-style cruelty to migrant kids!

Refugee voices are being heard in the House of Lords! We've always known that banning people seeking asylum from work is bad for all of us - now we just need the Government to listen. So we headed to the House of Lords to present the evidence that it's time to Lift The Ban.

This May Day, let's talk about the workers who aren't allowed to work. The builders, teachers, hairdressers, plumbers - all banned from working in the UK because they're waiting for an asylum decision. Everyone should have the right to work. It's time to Lift The Ban.

Caring about children's rights means caring about the rights of every child. That's why we're speaking out against new rules that put thousands of migrant and refugee children in the UK at risk of poverty, homelessness and trauma bit.ly/4sZazUt @AsylumMatters

Stripping asylum-refused families of all financial support. Exposing children to homelessness. Handcuffing scared kids to drag them onto deportation flights. Denying thousands of migrant families a safety net. Children's rights are under attack in the UK. independent.co.uk/news/uk/ho…

This Government wants to cut child poverty & educational inequalities. But at the same time it's baking poverty and trauma for children into its migration policy. We've joined charities, social workers & lawyers saying: every child's rights matter. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/k…

Locking people seeking safety up won't stop the war in Sudan. Trying to send people back won't make Afghanistan or Iran suddenly safe. More cruelty and violence on our border does absolutely nothing to stop crossings: it just puts more lives and risk. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/d…

"We cannot allow society, media and politicians to continue blaming migrants for VAWG. If we do, we risk never eradicating it." Absolutely vital words. Read, share, and use the linked guide to challenge the appropriation of women's rights👇 bigissue.com/opinion/pink-la…
