unrelated but I think it's awesome that the marketing for this movie made this line seem like it was humourous when in its proper context it's one of the most devastating lines in the film
the word epic being used here is so so interesting to me. I think the context of the film, the mythic tone, & the catharsis of the scene intentionally sets out to convey the literary definition of epic (monumental narrative) rather than the colloquial modern definition (cool)
it's such a compelling subversion that really took the air out of my lungs when I first saw it, especially considering that everyone already knew that the line was coming. what a great film.
man 2023 was such a monumental year for film, The Beast, La Chimera, Perfect Days, Killers of the Flower Moon, Anatomy of a Fall, Past Lives, The Dungeons and Dragons movie
Louis doesnt even understand italian, there's no way he knew what Lestat was telling the tenor and he just assumed it was something obnoxious like "oh I was in the room when Donizetti wrote Don Pasquale" he's so fucking funny πππ
I think I liked(?) the first episode of TVL, but I would be lying if I said I didn't miss the gothic & meditative tone of IWTV. I'm hoping the chaos of TVL isn't maintained throughout and we still get some of the quieter considered stuff that made the first two seasons so good
