Investing in the Next Generation of STEM Leaders Several A-team members from Atlas’ Indiana office — Eleanor Buchanan, Michael Ardis and Benjamin LaPointe — volunteered their time and expertise at the 37th Annual Hoosier Science and Engineering Fair, serving as Special Judges alongside the Indiana Association of Environmental Professionals. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade showcased impressive Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) projects spanning environmental engineering, earth sciences, chemistry, plant sciences and sustainable energy. Their work reflected not only creativity and curiosity, but also a strong understanding of the scientific method, as students clearly explained their hypotheses, experimental design, data analysis and conclusions. In this role, K.D. will lead Atlas’ Texas operations, overseeing program and contract management, as well as infrastructure advisory services, while driving regional strategy and business development across Texas. Based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, K.D. brings more than 30 years of transportation and infrastructure leadership experience, with deep expertise in construction engineering and inspection (CEI) and construction management. He has led complex highway, bridge and alternative delivery programs, working closely with public agencies, private-sector clients and contractor teams, including on design-build and Public-Private Partnership (P3) projects. His experience also includes managing large, multi-office teams, carrying full profit and loss responsibility and playing a key role in expanding CEI market share across Texas. K.D. is actively engaged in the transportation industry, serving on the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) Government Affairs and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committees.
