St Columb Road ✅ Station 1859 of 2596 ✅ Cornwall ✅ Thank you Cornwall for everything, in under 4 days navigating tricky request stops and limited service stations, St Columb Road in the baking hot sun completes what’s in my opinion England’s most beautiful county @GWRHelp

Is Lelant Saltings the most barebones ghostly station in Britain right now… Benches ❌ Waiting shelter ❌ Dot matrix indicator ❌ Ticket machine ❌ Regular service ❌ (only 2tpd) Vehicle access to the car park ❌ (completely blocked off) But it has a beautiful view ✅

Newquay ✅ Station 1858 of 2596 ✅ What a beautiful seaside resort! Absolutely breathtaking despite it being busy by the sea! Only a 5-minute walk to Great Western and Tolcarne Beaches! 1 station to go in Cornwall!!! @GWRHelp

Roche ✅ Station 1857 of 2596 ✅ It’s in the middle of nowhere and is not even in Roche, it’s in the village of Victoria. There’s a Travelodge about a 5-minute walk from the station and I dunno why! I actually thought of staying there but was priced out @GWRHelp

Quintrell Downs ✅ Station 1856 of 2596 ✅ Penultimate station before Newquay and a very quiet suburban village station where the preferred mode of transport is the bus which runs about 4 times an hour compared to the hourly train service even after the line upgrades @GWRHelp

Luxulyan ✅ Station 1855 of 2596 ✅ A quiet one, the least used station on this line. And the station is in the middle of nowhere in this tiny village and I could’ve done the Luxulyan Valley trail but I didn’t think I could get far in half an hour @GWRHelp

Bugle ✅ Station 1854 of 2596 ✅ First of 4 request stops on this line that I will be doing and the busiest of them all. The main village is only a 10-minute walk from the station, being treated to absolutely beautiful weather after a lot of rain the past few days @GWRHelp

St Erth ✅ Station 1853 of 2596 ✅ That’s all the mainline stations now complete! Only got the Atlantic Coast Line to do now! 6 stations left in Cornwall; sun is out too for the Atlantic Coast Line @GWRHelp

Carbis Bay ✅ Station 1852 of 2596 ✅ I walked from St Ives along the South West Coastal Path and it has got to be one of the best walks I have ever done! I only just made the train and made the most of the 34 minutes I had to walk between the 2 @GWRHelp

St Ives ✅ Station 1851 of 2596 ✅ Oh my god, it’s absolutely beautiful and that would be an understatement! A world class seaside town with the pretty Porthminster Beach on your doorstep! Now for a walk along the coastal path to the next station @GWRHelp

Lelant Saltings ✅ Station 1850 of 2596 ✅ I don’t think I’ll see many stations more frozen in time than this one! The P&R facility got relocated to St Erth leaving an abandoned car park! And the most skeletal service of 2tpd with a bare bones platform! 09:14 to St Erth @GWRHelp

Lelant ✅ Station 1849 of 2596 ✅ It’s meant to be a request stop but the conductor told me that the train normally stops by default when it’s 4-car in case they can’t see all passengers properly given it’s curved! Beautiful views to the Hayle Estuary love it! @GWRHelp

Par ✅ Station 1848 of 2596 ✅ Change here for services to Newquay but instead, I did get the bus to Fowey which is absolutely beautiful, so highly recommend it! @GWRHelp

St Germans ✅ Station 1847 of 2596 ✅ This is such an interesting station! How many places would have absolutely no bus services (except school ones), one village shop, and a regular train service including a handful of direct trains to London?! @GWRHelp

Menheniot ✅ Station 1846 of 2596 ✅ A very awkward one and least-used on the main line! Used to be a request stop but isn’t anymore and it’s located off the A38 about 2 miles south of the actual village, there are buses from the main road to Dobwalls and Plymouth @GWRHelp

Plymouth ✅ Station 1845 of 2596 ✅ Furthest east the Cornish Day Ranger goes and what a beautiful city Plymouth is! As the Tamar Valley Line went successfully to plan, I had 2 hours to have a look round the city, walked around the waterfront and docks! Stunning @GWRHelp

Gunnislake ✅ Station 1844 of 2596 ✅ It had to be a very quick in and straight out. I would have loved to spend time exploring the village but the trains are every 2 hours and the only buses here run to Tavistock & Callington which would take me away from the railway @GWRHelp

Bere Ferrers ✅ Station 1843 of 2596 ✅ Another gorgeous station, I would say this has been my favourite branch line so far! There is a collection of old trains and signals here with a beautiful signal box! And the quay is located a 20-minute walk away to scenic views @GWRHelp

Calstock ✅ Station 1842 of 2596 ✅ That is one hell of a beautiful viaduct! You can’t tick off Calstock and not visit the gorgeous Calstock viaduct, an absolutely exquisite piece of Victorian engineering over the River Tamar @GWRHelp

Dockyard ✅ Station 1841 of 2596 ✅ This used to be a request stop but I have no idea if it is anymore. The trains seem to be stopping here by default. The hilly rows of houses makes an interesting backdrop. It’s fascinating how the Victorians built a rail line here @GWRHelp
