I donât think heâs changed his position at all. Heâs been consistent from the start: AI is the sidekick, not the main character. Humans (and he himself) stay firmly in the driverâs seat.
Sure, as a businessman he chooses his words carefully, but the core message is clear â AI isnât the creator. Itâs a powerful supplementary tool that helps humans realize their vision. AI is just one of many convenient tools we have.
It might one day truly understand art and create on its own⊠but that feels like decades away. And by then, humanityâs own philosophy of creation will have evolved even further.
âThe life is beautiful, because it has the end.â
If true creation comes from burning your finite soul and limited time, then AI without a soul to burn can never truly reach it.
Hideo Kojima says heâs no longer interested in generative AI:
âArt is life. But in 50 years, 100 years, I donât know. Maybe AI could create art, but while I live, I donât think Iâll see it. Iâm not interested in it.â
His comments come after the AI-generated âSatellites IIâ project faced criticism for using AI-created versions of Kojima and Nicolas Winding Refn.
