A downed American airman, equivalent to a colonel in the Nigerian military, found himself in hostile fire and enemy territory during the stalled American-Iran war. For two days, he was trapped at the enemy territory, and President Trump moved heaven and earth to ensure his rescue. The US military built a temporary airstrip in the desert for a smooth rescue operation. Trump received briefings every minute and didn't breathe a sigh of relief until the airman was rescued. We saw urgency and responsive leadership from US leadership for one person. In contrast, a retired Major General who served Nigeria was kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen in Katsina. Ahmed Bola Tinubu didn't show concern. For him, it was business as usual. There was no urgency to rescue the General or address insecurity. Tinubu slept soundly while Nigerians were held captive by criminals and terrorists. The General died in terrorists' hands because he was abandoned by the country he served. Two countries, different priorities. The message to Nigerian military personnel is that their lives don't matter and their service is worthless. Tinubu, incompetent in running a country, is planning to run another election, and some educated people think it's okay because they share ancestry and political affiliation.
