Today at #UNESCO Headquarters, an Information Session was held for Member States on the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue (#WFID2026), with the participation of Mr. Farid Jafarov, Deputy Minister of Culture of #Azerbaijan. Organized by the Permanent Delegation of Azerbaijan to UNESCO in cooperation with Ministry of Culture of 🇦🇿 and UNESCO’s Sciences Sector, the session presented preparations for the upcoming Forum to be held in Baku on 27–29 October 2026.

Pleased to meet with the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli. We discussed @UNESCO’s cooperation with Azerbaijan, including the role of culture in strengthening intercultural dialogue, peace and sustainable development. Within the framework of the event “Heritage, Travel and Traditions of the Silk Roads: A Journey of Intercultural Dialogue”, #Azerbaijan showcased aspects of its national cultural heritage at #UNESCO HQ. The presentation featured a performance of the traditional dance, highlighting the richness, diversity and vibrancy of Azerbaijani culture.

The event “Heritage, Travel and Traditions of the Silk Roads: A Journey of Intercultural Dialogue” took place at #UNESCO HQ on the occasion of the International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations. During the high-level panel session “From Heritage to Experience: Connecting the Silk Roads Today”, Ambassador @elmanabdullayev participated as a speaker, highlighting Azerbaijan’s historic role along the Silk Roads and the importance of cultural heritage, intercultural dialogue and connectivity in fostering mutual understanding and bringing people closer together. #Azerbaijan #Silkroad #heritage

Karabakh is widely known for its rich cultural heritage, music traditions and distinctive craftsmanship. Less known, however, is its long-standing equestrian heritage. This heritage lives on through #Chovqan, a traditional horse-riding game played on Karabakh horses. Combining horsemanship, teamwork and traditional knowledge, the game has been practiced for centuries and remains an important expression of cultural identity.
