Hi everyone, it’s the Boomer.
I just wanted to reach out and let you all know that I’m slowly trying to recover from the grief we all share, not only from the losses in our own lives, but those of our friends and family as well. I hope each of you is doing as well as can be expected, and I want you to know how much I miss you all.
Before Chanda had to leave us, she told me something I’ll never forget. She said "that I knew what to do." The confidence she placed in me was an honor I do not take lightly. She wanted me to keep going, to continue the good fight, and to take care of our community the best I could.
That has stayed with me.
To help all of us heal, myself included, from the grief and the chaos we’ve been living through, I’ve been working on putting together a new show. It will carry some of the same spirit, entertainment, and format we shared with Beauty and the Boomer, but it will also be something new.
Chanda is irreplaceable. There will only ever be one Chanda. But thankfully, we still have her voice, her interviews, her shows, and the entire Beauty and the Boomer library to keep her spirit alive.
What I’d really like now is to reconnect with all of you and talk about where we go from here.
I had hoped to do something this Saturday, but truthfully, I’m not quite ready. My hope is to put together a gathering for next Saturday night, June 20th, at 7:00 p.m. Pacific, just to say hello, catch up, give some shout outs, and ask for your thoughts and ideas moving forward.
To be clear, this will not be Beauty and the Boomer After Dark. That chapter is sacred and stands on its own.
What this will be is something inspired by the old saying: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… and maybe a silver sixpence in its shoe.
I have a working title, and I’ve been talking with a kind, thoughtful, independent soul with a lot of personality about co-hosting this new journey.
I’m putting this out there today because I’d love to hear from you. Your ideas, your thoughts, and your feelings matter to me. My hope is to build something that honors Chanda’s legacy in a way that is respectful, heartfelt, and true to what we created together. I believe she would appreciate that and maybe even get a kick out of it.
So if you’re free next Saturday, join me for what we used to call "Hot Summer Nights." I’ll have a little entertainment, a dash of news, and most importantly, some time to spend with all of you, talking, remembering, and looking ahead.
Thank you, my dear friends and family, for all the love and support you’ve shown me during this difficult time. It has meant more than I can ever put into words.
I hope to see you all a week from this Saturday.
With love,
Oz, The Boomer
