We were the 1st car to arrive at the locked gate after the last ferry had sailed. Over a 100 cars followed. The way the staff at BC Ferries responded is a good model for all of us. Happy Labour Day! Full story in the Vancouver Sun: vancouversun.com/news/kindne…

Canadians are united in our understanding that Trump's proposed tariffs pose a serious threat to well-being on both sides of the border. And, we can help make the case. Great tools like the ones at connect2Canada.com can help. My piece explains: financialpost.com/opinion/tr…

Wow were we ever impressed with the innovative thinking @VanFoodBank. CEO David Long talked about more fresh food and less waste (thanks to farmers tax credit). Perfectly good zucchinis, apples, and other food destined for the landfill end up feeding families instead.

Three months in a row of declining employment in BC. A 0.3% increase in private sector employment over two years, while public sector employment grew by 11.8%. I'm not an economist like the staff at @BizCouncilBC, but I'm pretty sure this is not good. bcbc.com/insight/r1h8eyo25mx…

Cool trucks and hot coffee make for a terrific morning. Thanks to member @VCT_Canada for giving us a great tour. And a little shout out to local business the Bean Factory for great coffee. Companies like these are part of #BuildingProspertiyBC!

A work stoppage at our major railways would limit 🇨🇦s access to goods, drive up prices and worsen affordability challenges. With 110 organizations, we sent a letter to PM Trudeau, Min. MacKinnon and Min. Rodriguez urging them to prevent this disruption ⤵️ bit.ly/4dtAw7y

Advice letter to Treasury Board from External Committee is now posted. Regulatory excellence is a concept all governments in Canada should embrace. High protection with lower regulatory burden = more productivity = higher wages and more prosperity. bcbc.com/insight/sfh9ye55ijf…

🚢 We're excited to kick off our #BuildingProsperityBC campaign with a visit to @Seaspan Shipyards in #NorthVan! What did we learn? 🌊 They're currently building ships for the @CoastGuardCAN and @RoyalCanNavy 🌊 Seaspan has a total workforce of over 4,700 which spans three shipyards and their marine division. 🌊 Seaspan has partnered with the @Haisla_Nation to build one of the greenest tugboat fleets in the world, including the world’s first fully electric tugboat. 🌊 They contribute billions to the #BC economy, which creates countless economic opportunities across the province and beyond. 🌊 They're continuing to invest in the future by educating the next generation of skilled laborers, including partnering with @bcit. Read more about our visit (and see more photos of cool ships): bcbc.com/building-prosperity… #BCBiz #BCEcon #Innovation #ships

That's sobering.
"a 10 percent hit to productivity in the oil and gas extraction sector shrinks Canada’s economy by approximately 1.2 percent. That’s equivalent to roughly $35 billion per year, or nearly $900 per person per year." thehub.ca/2023-12-14/trevor-…

Simple ways to free up time and money for people can add up. Good job Nova Scotia.
If you could remove government red tape, what would be at the top of your list? Keep in mind that the health, safety & well-being of people and the environment must be protected when red tape is reduced. Send us your ideas and help make a real difference. bit.ly/43ZAFdG

Great to have @JonathanWNV meet with @BizCouncilBC members about last week's economic statement. Lots of focus on energy. We also shared a laugh about the Vancouver to Ottawa flight - too short for people to feel sorry for you but long enough that they should!
