Did you know (about the IB)...
that each student receives a "predicted grade (PG)" in every IB subject they take? Teachers issue these grades according to the grade descriptors, for English literature, as an example, attached to this post. (1/2)
PGs help determine university admission and aid the IB in developing and assessing the validity and reliability of their global assessment instruments, like IB exams. (2/2)

IB students develop very high aspirations by the end of their time in the programme? Halic (2021) found, among an international cohort, that up to 98% of graduating IB students aspired to at least a bachelor degree - 81% aspired to a master or doctoral degree.
Did you know (about the IB programme)...
That some universities require English language proficiency tests for admission of students of other nationalities? Completing an IB English literature class is comparable with the widely used Common European Framework of Reference (1/3)
for Languages (CEFR). Students who receive a score of 5 or above in IB English literature, therefore, do not usually have to complete the CEFR for admission - another benefit of taking IB courses for university-focussed students. A recent study commissioned by IB (2/3)
examined how grades in IB language courses compare to levels on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Findings are summarized in the picture attached. Questions about the IB programme at Bellerose? Email our IB coordinator at ibc@spschools.org (3/3)
