Strengthening Zimbabwe-Namibia Trade Ties 🇿🇼🇳🇦 We were pleased to host the Namibian Ambassador, H.E. David Thomas, to discuss new initiatives aimed at boosting bilateral trade. While current trade volumes have significant room for growth, #ZimTrade is actively unlocking new export opportunities in the Namibian market, specifically targeting leather and horticultural sectors as well as creating avenues that make sure local products can enter this market competitively. We are committed to fostering partnerships that translate these opportunities into tangible results for our exporters. #ZimTrade #EnergizingExports #ZimbabweNamibia

Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw has become widely discussed in America because of a statement he made during a press conference. Journalist: “Today, there were very strong winds in the state of New Jersey, and security officials advised members of the delegation not to go outside for your own safety. Why did you go out to perform the prayer?” Pape Thiaw: “Is there anything more important than prayer? I do not think that is your concern. You fear the wind, while we fear Allah, the One who created the wind. We came here for a game of entertainment, yet we have forgotten that we were created to worship Allah. Even if the @FIFAWorldCup World Cup final were being played today and we were one of the finalist teams, we would still go out to perform the Jummah prayer, even if it meant losing the championship. Do not lecture us about the rituals and obligations of our religion.”

H.E. President @edmnangagwa and his Equatorial Guinea counterpart, H.E. President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo oversee the signing of agreements as part of the inaugural Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC). The agreements signed today reaffirm commitments on trade, mining, agriculture, education, energy, transport, fisheries, tourism, mutual recognition of qualifications and wildlife management. Key points that were raised include: - Both sides called for deeper economic cooperation removing tariff/non-tariff barriers. - The President thanked Equatorial Guinea for supporting the removal of sanctions on Zimbabwe and backing Zim’s 2027-2028 UNSC bid. - “African solutions to African problems” was the shared vision by the sister republics. This is the first Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation between Harare & Malabo. It’s the structured platform to manage all future cooperation and builds on agreements signed when President Mnangagwa visited Malabo in Feb 2023. Meanwhile President Mbasogo has left Harare for Equatorial Guinea. He was seen off at RGM International Airport by President Mnangagwa.

Today, I held the first 2026 statutory meetings with the boards of Transmedia and Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), in line with section 33(4) of the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act [Chapter 10: 31]. These meetings ensure continuous strategic alignment and rigorous perfomance oversight. I encouraged the Transmedia board to accelerate completion of all critical infrastructure in the country's transmission network to ensure the Corporation fulfills its mandate to provide reliable signal distribution. I also called on the ZBC board to ensure that ZBC produces quality and engaging content on all platforms through investing in content innovation, talent and digital platforms. #Vision2030 #AccessToInformation
