The article uses comprehensive data from the @BExplo_research platform to show that the joint goals are best achieved in stands of larger trees, and that pine forests are poor for both biodiversity and carbon

📢New paper published about #wood-colonizing microbial #biodiversity!🪵🦠The wood-colonizing communities were more strongly determined by extrinsic factors such as the #ecosystem type and microclimate than by intrinsic factors! sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

...and another publication from @biodivkultur together with the Explos! 🎉The newly developed mowing index can be used to assess the impact of mowing intensity on biodiversity and ecosystem processes! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
@GrasslandRes @hartlieb_m @FEdA_Biodiv

Biodiversity loss in aboveground arthropods is known, but what about belowground ones, e.g. oribatid mites? This study found no linear decline in abundance or diversity. Differences in precipitation and soil properties are more important than forest types. nsojournals.onlinelibrary.wi…

Excited to share a publication from a @biodivkultur and Explos data collaboration! Data from 111 grassland plots over 11 years were analyzed, uncovering the negative effect of mowing on insects and spiders. 🕷️🦟🪲 Check it out!
In Zusammenarbeit mit Daten der @BExplo_de @BExplo_research hat unsere Doktorandin @Johanna_L_Be gerade folgende Studie im Journal @ESAApplications publiziert: esajournals.onlinelibrary.wi… Was kam heraus? 👉 Thread & Mehr Infos im Paper!

📢New paper on #bird #diversity with 6 years of #monitoring data published !🐦 Landscape heterogeneity in #forest and #grassland benefits bird diversity! Ecosystem and regional context must be considered to understand the impact of management practices. frontiersin.org/journals/env…

📄 New paper published about the efficiency using #metabarcoding of environmental samples for #fungal detection! sciencedirect.com/science/ar… Our study compared metabarcoding with traditional fruiting body surveys on 569 #deadwood objects.🪵

🔍 Results: Metabarcoding is highly efficient for detecting deadwood-inhabiting fungi, but a unique set of species and vital fungal individuals were only found via fruit body surveys. ‼️ Recommendation: Combine both methods for a comprehensive fungal assessment.

Large seeds benefit more from litter, small seeds from fertilisation. These effects vary depending on the plant group. Land-use changes affect #biodiversity from the earliest #plant stages.
87
The study shows that nitrogen fertilization reduces seedling emergence while litter cover boosts it, even combined with fertilization. Fertilization increased seedling height and biomass, and the combination of fertilizer and litter resulted in even stronger responses.

🦉How do #birds respond to #forest management changes? Our study recorded 150 forest plots, assessing structure, herbaceous layer, and arthropod diversity/biomass. Birds rely on arthropod size, diversity, and composition, not specific food types ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article… @PLOSONE

📢 New findings from our #Forest Gap Experiment (FOX)🌳about #diversity of oribatid mites. Large #deadwood logs increase their density, however, forest gaps reduce their density and species number. Adding deadwood doesn't mitigate effects of gaps. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
