We are Blairgowrie High School Design and Technology department - a fun, modern and innovative department teaching Design, Graphics, Engineering and Woodwork
Thank you to @brightgreenH2 for their excellent workshop with @BlairgowrieHS S3 Engineering Science pupils last week supported by @DYWTayCities. Pupils learnt about hydrogen as an emerging technology for domestic fuel and were able to electrolyse hydrogen from deionised water.
As part of a unit of work on Structures focussing on bridges, our S3 Engineers used themselves to demonstrate the cantilever principles of the Forth Bridge. @BlairgowrieHS
The S3 Graphics class have been trying pen rendering this week. They have really enjoyed learning how to render using a different media #graphics#graphiccommunication
Thanks to all the organisations who supported our Intro to Trades event. Our S2 group took part in fun and inspiring activities, demonstrating the breadth of opportunities in trades and beyond. Special thanks to Rembrand Timber & Travis Perkins for supplying wood.@DYWTayCities
Thank you Stuart from @bamukandireland and Adam from @bakerhicks_1957 for meeting our Higher Engineering Science class. They brought life to our structures unit by talking about construction management, structural engineering and career paths. @BlairgowrieHS#DYW
The S3 Design and Manufacture class today had a challenge of looking at how an idea can be developed through showing alternatives. Lots of ideas to help how they think when creating their own development. #designandmanufacture@BlairgowrieHS
S2 classes have been working on designs for their Pokémon using the Subtract/Add/Manipulate ideas technique. Well done to everyone. Here are some examples from 2R. @BlairgowrieHS
Today S2 rejoined the Design and Technology department. The class started with a creative thinking task - something from nothing. These were the ideas they came up with from a squiggle. Well done 2Q. @BlairgowrieHS#creativethinking#Design#becreative
In the run-up to the Christmas holidays, our Graphic Communication students worked on re-designing the festive Irn-Bru can. Creating their virtual can and designing a new label before bringing the two things together to make a virtual product. #BlairgowrieHS
S3 Graphics are enjoying their first week back building Lego cars, modelling Lego bricks on CAD and constraining them to make a vehicle. #graphics#designtechnology
