BREAKING: Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier is released from prison after nearly 50 years.
For decades, Peltier, who is 80 years old, has maintained his innocence over the 1975 killing of two FBI agents in a shootout on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
Last month President Joseph Biden commuted Peltier's life sentence to serve the remainder of his time under house arrest.

EXPANDING WARMING CENTERS: The Salvation Army Freedom Center (825 N. Christiana) has been opened as a 24/7 warming center through Tuesday, February 18. Additionally, city-owned facilities, including designated warming centers, remain available during their operational hours.
The Garfield Center at 10 S. Kedzie will be open THIS WEEKEND, Saturday, 2/15 - Sunday, 2/16 and PRESIDENTS’ DAY, Monday, 2/17 as a warming center from 9am-5pm. Call 3-1-1 for shelter placement, nearest warming center, and well-being checks for senior and unhoused neighbors.

This is outrageous. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s rule to ban medical debt from credit reports would have removed $49 billion in medical debt and helped nearly 15 million Americans. The Trump Admin is once again siding with the rich and powerful over working people.
